Volunteering & Helping Out

Pied Piper Toy Library is completely run by the community, for the community! Volunteering is the secret ingredient that keeps our library running smoothly and allows us to keep membership fees as low and affordable as possible for everyone.

Whether you are completing your volunteering roster shifts or looking to join our committee, we love having you on board.

A $70 Yearly Volunteer Bond is paid upfront alongside your membership. Simply complete your 5 hours of annual volunteering to get it straight back and fully refunded.

πŸ€” What happens during a volunteer shift?

Don't worry if you've never done a shift before - our toy library coordinators will show you everything you need to know! A typical 2.5 hour roster session is relaxed and involves:

πŸ‘‹ Welcoming Families

Greeting members as they arrive and helping them find their way around the shelves.

🧩 Counting Toy Pieces

Checking returned toys pieces against the list on the labels to make sure everything has made it back safely.

🧸 Tidying the Shelves

Putting toys back in their correct spots so the library stays neat, organised and easy to browse.

πŸ“… Quick Roster Guide

How often do I help?

You will typically need to complete just 2 to 3 shifts to meet the 5 hours per year to have your $70 bond is fully refunded or rolled over to your next year of membership.

Can I bring my children?

Yes, absolutely! We are a family space, and your kids are more than welcome to come along to your shift. They will love playing with the toys in the library while you help out.

How do I book a shift?

It’s completely flexible. Simply log into the Members Portal, look at the roster calendar, and pick a date and time that perfectly fits your family's schedule.

What if I need to cancel?

We know life with young kids is unpredictable. If you can’t make your session, let us know as soon as possible via email and reschedule for another time.
